August Learn and Earn
Saturday, July 31st, 2010
Our August Learn and Earn will be about thread. There is too much information to talk about all kinds of thread in one hour, so we will concentrate on thick threads that can be used in the needle of your sewing machine.
Friday, August the 13th and Saturday, August the 14th we will do a one hour class on the use of these dynamic threads for decorative stitching, embellishment, and applique.
You can use your machine to decorate cotton handtowels. They make great gifts and you get to practice combining stitches and threads.
You will also see how to applique with wool thread to replicate the blanket stitch that was traditionally done by hand.
This wool pin cushion is a small project you can easily accomplish using the blanket stitch on your machine. You will love learning about the Lana wool thread that can be used in the needle of your machine.
To participate in a Learn and Earn demonstration, you pay $5.00 and after attending the class, you receive a $6.00 gift card to Creations. Now that’s a good deal. Sorry, no refunds if you don’t come.
The classes that still have room for the August L & E are Friday, August 13th at 2pm, Saturday, August 14th at 10:00am and at 2pm. We don’t have many chairs left, and we assign seats as we receive payment.
Hope you will come and join us. We know you will leave confident to try heavy threads in your sewing machine. It’s not how many decorative stitches your machine has, but what you do with the ones you have!!
Zipperfobia might not be a “real” word, but it sure is a real fear for lots of quilters and sewers. Just the thought of “putting in a zipper” can cause reason to put that project away!
One of the projects we showed was the the Zippy Strippy bag by Atkinson Designs. It’s a darling little bag and you can really make use of those tidbits of fabric we all save.
