I did not grow up in Kerrville, but my first husband was a local boy whom I met when he was engaged in Wall Street endeavors. After his death, I married Count de Ratbert, an Italian nobleman of great lineage and impoverished pockets. Following his demise, and having no kitties of my own, I re-located to Kerrville, where my first husband's many nieces and nephews could look after me. |

And look after me they surely do! Presents all the time, regular visits and errand-running, car rides in the country to bird-watch -- why, they even name their children after me (nasty little things though they are)! They are all so, so solicitous of me, so kind, you see, because they think they'll get all my money when I die! What they don't know is -- I have none! Yes, I lost it all when I had to cover Ratbert's losses. Pity, that, but then, he was terribly entertaining and amusing. But won't the heirs be surprised?!?" |
